Kinesiology (Muscle Testing): A Diagnostic Tool for
Medical Exams

Muscle testing, also known as kinesiological testing, was developed by a Detroit Chiropractor named Dr. George Goodheart in the 1960s. It began with the discovery that each major internal organ had a pair of skeletal muscles that were related to it. For example if your small intestine has a problem, either the right or left Quadriceps (thigh) muscle would test as weak. This was a great step forward in diagnosis and allowed many people who had not been helped by orthodox medicine to discover the cause of their problem and to take steps to fix it. Another Michigan chiropractor, Dr. D. A. Versendaal discovered that muscle testing could be used while contacting organ reflex points on the body. These organ reflex points are related to acupuncture organ points and have been used for diagnosis for thousands of years. If the patient's arm muscle tested as weak when the doctor was contacting a specific organ reflex point; it indicated that the organ had a problem. Dr. John Diamond, a psychiatrist discovered that a test muscle would become weak in response to an unhealthy emotional attitude or mental stress.
Patients often ask “Why does my arm become weak when you touch a certain point?” There is a simple, logical explanation for this.
If an internal organ is having problems functioning properly; the body will direct more of its electrical
energy to that organ in an attempt to support it. If the doctor touches the reflex point of an organ that is in trouble, it
will drain off that energy and the body will temporarily become weak. The muscle that is being tested will test as weak.
I have been a student of and a practitioner of muscle testing since 1980 and have personally studied with doctors Versendaal, Walker and Frank. I use muscle testing to discover the nutritional cause of my patient's health problems. I work with the patient as a partner and recommend appropriate nutritional supplementation and dietary modifications.
As we work together, I will continue to monitor your progress with muscle testing and other diagnostic tools such as symptom surveys. If you ever have any questions about the procedures or your progress, please feel free to ask me.
